Tohoku University Technology: Giant Magnetoresistance Magnetic Tunnel Junction Device: T21-109
Improved stability of operation against external magnetic fields.
In recent years, magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) have attracted attention as solid-state devices capable of generating random output signals, with applications expected in random number generation units used in probabilistic computing systems. However, superparamagnetic MTJs, designed to have a magnetic direction in the free layer that is easily disturbed by thermal fluctuations, are sensitive to external magnetic fields due to their small designed anisotropic magnetic fields, presenting a challenge as they can react sensitively even to external magnetic fields of around a few mT. The present invention is a technology that offers excellent operational stability (robustness) against external magnetic fields, suitable for superparamagnetic MTJs, and supports the social implementation of computing systems using them.
